Dukane Seacom’s Ships Initial ELT-DT Production Units

Dukane Seacom (a HEICO Company, NYSE: HEI, HEI.A), a leading provider of emergency locator technology for the aviation industry, proudly announces the initial production shipments for the industry’s first Distress Tracking Second Generation Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT-DT). The initial production units will be installed on new production aircraft by multiple leading North American business jet manufacturers.  This significant achievement sets a critical milestone in enhancing the safety and reliability of aviation distress alerting systems worldwide.  Dukane’s ELT-DT is an integral element of the Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) being incorporated into commercial and business aviation aircraft in accordance with ICAO’s January 2025 implementation mandate.

“The initial production shipments mark the culmination of our design and development program,” said John Miller, Director of Business Development. “Our entire team celebrates the introduction to the latest ELT-DT technology to the commercial aviation market.”

Dukane’s Second Generation ELT is designed to utilize spread-spectrum technology, which provides faster and more accurate location data during emergencies. It integrates cutting-edge 406 MHz distress signal technology, enhanced MEOSAR compatibility, and a robust 121.5 MHz homing signal to ensure swift and precise location identification. Additionally, the use of spread-spectrum avoids overcrowding of critical emergency communications that could exist with first-generation fixed frequency ELTs and other personal and maritime beacons.  This next-generation device significantly improves search and rescue response times, bolstering aircraft safety.  Dukane’s ELT-DT can be triggered in-flight when an aircraft is in distress to ensure that the aircraft’s location can be tracked and localized so that search and rescue times are minimized.

Incorporating the latest generation of advanced satellite communications capabilities, the Second-Generation ELT-DT offers unparalleled reliability and global coverage, making it one of the most advanced ELTs in the industry. Its innovative design also features long-lasting battery life, reduced size, and weight.

Dukane Seacom’s Second Generation ELT-DT has TSO-C126c approval and is now available for integration into a wide range of aviation platforms, further strengthening the company’s position as a leader in emergency locator technology.

Dukane Seacom’s DK-406-AF Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) Gaining Acceptance in New Markets and Platforms

SARASOTA, Fla. – Dukane Seacom (a HEICO Company, NYSE: HEI, HEI.A) DK-406-AF Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) is one of the industry’s newest ELT solutions and is quickly gaining market share.

Since launch and certification, the DK-406-AF has been selected by multiple commercial and defense platforms, and most recently gained a large share of the emerging eVTOL platforms.

The eVTOL (Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) market space is a rapidly growing sector within the aviation industry. eVTOL aircraft are designed to take off and land vertically, like a helicopter, but with electric propulsion systems that enable them to operate more quietly, efficiently, and with lower emissions compared to traditional combustion engines.

The market for eVTOLs is projected to grow significantly over the next decade, driven by increasing demand for urban air mobility, emergency services, and transportation of goods. Major players in the industry include established aerospace companies like Airbus and Boeing, as well as startups such as Archer Aviation, Lilium, and Joby Aviation.

Commercial deployment of eVTOLs at scale require three core regulatory approvals: type certification, production certification, and operational authority. The FAA and EASA are making progress towards establishing regulatory frameworks for eVTOLs. Additionally, infrastructure such as vertiports (airports for eVTOLs) and battery charging-swapping locations will need to be built. Overall, the eVTOL market space offers an exciting opportunity for innovation and growth in the aviation industry, with the potential to revolutionize the way people and goods are transported in the future.

Dukane-Seacom is proud to be an early partner involved in transforming aerospace travel through urban air and advanced air mobility with its product portfolio including ELTs and underwater locator beacons. It supports all organizations committed to lasting change that will bring families closer to their loved ones, make work commutes more productive, and enable faster recreational travel.

Bombardier Selects Dukane Seacom DK-406-DT Distress Tracking ELT

SARASOTA, Fla., – Dukane Seacom (a HEICO Company, NYSE: HEI, HEI.A) has been selected by Bombardier to supply their DK-406-DT Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) to support the Global 7500, the world’s longest-range, in-service business jet. The DK-406-DT meets the Aeronautical Distress & Safety System (GADSS) regulations going into effect in January 2023.

The Dukane Seacom AeroELT product family consists of integrated ELT solutions designed and tested to the current and future requirements for worldwide ELT operations. With a focus on safety and high reliability, the AeroELT product family provides improvements in automatic triggering as well as meeting DO-227A compliance for containment of a lithium battery thermal runaway event without venting. A multi-axis MEMS trigger is used to automatically detect impact, improving trigger reliability over traditional “G-Switch” triggers. A self-contained GNSS receiver further enhances the ability of search and rescue to quickly locate an aircraft in distress worldwide.

The newest addition to Dukane Seacom, the DK-406-DT, is capable of being triggered in-flight to alert search and rescue authorities of an emergency prior to an incident. Dukane Seacom’s ELT-DT uses a specialized battery and power management system to allow the ELT to operate in temperatures down to -40°C, providing a complete Class 1 compliant ELT solution. The DK-406-DT combines the features of a Distress Tracking and Automatic Fixed (AF) ELT, allowing customers to meet requirements for their aircraft to contain a fixed ELT and GADSS compliance with a single transmitter that is fully-compliant with current and Second Generation Beacon (SGB) requirements.

“Dukane Seacom is delighted to be chosen by Bombardier for this important new safety system for the Global 7500 business jet,” said Anish Patel, President of Dukane Seacom. “This selection reinforces the capabilities of our ELT product family and the technical excellence that Dukane Seacom brings to aircraft safety systems.”
